Before you apply, let us tell you about the job.

Qualifications - Do I need to have writing experience to join?
 
No. This is an extracurricular activity at the college level with the goal of training students as well as providing writers with foundational skills in writing, research, proofreading, and editing. However, you must submit a writing sample for us to judge your current level.

What you need to commit to
 

  • Submission of 1 quality article (minimum) per issue.

  • No more than 3 hours of work per week.

  • Attend bi-weekly meetings.

What you get
 

  • Access to the TAV Times staff office.

  • Authorization to use The TAV Times on your CV and LinkedIn profile.

  • Experience as a content writer.

  • Experience as a journalist.

  • Sometimes exclusive access to events, spaces, and people.

  • Research experience.

  • Compensation in the form of an honorarium.

All applicants must submit a writing sample. This can be anything: an essay, poem, lyrics, sample article, etc.

After you have applied

Who reviews my application?
 
The Editor-In-Chief is responsible for reviewing all applications as well as overseeing the onboarding process for new writers with the TAV Times.

Will I receive training?
 
Yes. Once you have been accepted onto the staff, the Editor-In-Chief will go over the Intro to Journalism package with you that outlines everything you need to know to get started.

Can I move up in position?
 
Yes. After 1 year of writing (2 semesters) Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff can move up to Tier 3 positions, which are paid higher.
